Shimla: Alakh Prakash Goyal Shimla University (APGSU) is set to launch a One-Week Faculty Development Programme (FDP) from July 7 to July 11, 2025. Themed “Emerging Trends in Higher Education Policy: Shaping the Future of Learning and Innovative Research,” the FDP aims to empower educators with the tools and knowledge needed for 21st-century classrooms. Dr. Maninder Kaur, Head of the School of Sciences, is convening the programme, which aligns with the goals of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The focus will be on enhancing academic, teaching, and research abilities among faculty members.
The university’s senior leadership is actively supporting the initiative. Chief Patrons include Chancellor Er. Suman Vikrant, Pro-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Ramesh Chauhan, and Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Rajinder Singh Chauhan. Registrar Prof. (Dr.) R.L. Sharma is overseeing the programme’s implementation. The FDP is being chaired by academic leaders Prof. (Dr.) Ashwani Sharma (Dean of Faculty), Prof. (Dr.) Ankit Thakur (Dean, School of Engineering & Technology), and Dr. Neelam Sharma (Dean Student Welfare). Dr. Devika Rana, UGC-NEP Coordinator, is serving as Patron and is contributing to key academic sessions.
Designed to inspire innovation and inclusive practices in education, the FDP covers vital topics like policy reforms, equity in education, digital integration, modern teaching practices, research development, global collaboration, quality assurance, and employability. Renowned experts are scheduled to speak, including Prof. Dev Dutt Sharma (Chairman, Dept. of Geography, HPU and Former VC, Sardar Patel University, Mandi), Prof. P.K. Ahluwalia (Dept. of Physics, HPU), and Dr. Sandeep Chauhan (Chairman, Dept. of Chemistry, HPU). Key speakers from APGSU include Prof. (Dr.) Anand Mohan (Dean Academics), Prof. (Dr.) Ankit Thakur, and Dr. Devika Rana.
The organising team includes Dr. Bhawna Verma (HoD, School of Legal Studies and Research), Dr. Devika Rana, Dr. Vijay Shree (Media & Mass Communication), Mr. Atul Kumar Dubey (HoD, Allied and Healthcare Sciences), and Mr. Ashwani Sharma (Assistant Professor, CSE and Auditorium In-charge). Organising Committee members include Dr. Pyar Singh, Mr. Atul Shukla, Mr. Lalit, and Dr. Bhawna Verma. The Advisory Committee features Dr. Monika Baltoo, Mr. Chetan Mehta, Mr. Lalit, and Dr. Devika Rana. Technical support is being handled by Ms. Bharti, Ms. Mehak Kaur, Mr. Hitender, and Mr. Rajat Pratap.
