Shimla: Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur launched a mega quiz competition named ‘Jan Bhagidari Se Sushasan, Himachal Ka Maha Quiz’ (Good Governance through Public Participation) organized by the MyGov Himachal, Department of Information and Technology here today.
Speaking on the occasion Chief Minister said since the National Technology Day is celebrated on 11th May, the State Government decided that the mega quiz was also organized through online medium on this day itself. He said that this quiz would be based on public welfare schemes of the Centre and State Governments and would be conducted in Hindi and English languages. He said that the State Government has initiated several schemes for the welfare and socio-economic upliftment of vulnerable sections of society. He said that the quiz would go a long way in publicizing the policies and programmes of the State Government.
Chief Minister said that quiz would be organized on the MyGov Himachal web portal of the State Government and such competition was being organized in the State for the first time. He said that the main objective of organizing this event was to make the people of the state aware about various welfare schemes and good governance of the Government. Through this quiz the general public would be able to know about the schemes of the government and it will be very easy for them to get benefits of these schemes, he added.
Jai Ram Thakur said that at times due to unawareness about the schemes initiated by the State Government for the welfare and betterment, people get deprived of the benefits of these schemes. He said that the aim of organizing this event was to make the people aware about various government schemes. He said that the State Government during its over four year tenure has started several new initiatives and the quiz would help the people to know about these schemes. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has interacted several times with the beneficiaries of various central schemes.
Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Sarveen Chaudhary said that the State Government under the able leadership of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has initiated several schemes for the poor and downtrodden. She said that schemes like ‘Beti Hai Anmol’, Shagun Yojna, Grihini Suvidha Yojna etc. have proved boon for empowering the women.
Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Subhasish Panda, while welcoming the Chief Minister, said that this quiz competition would be held in total eight rounds on different themes. He said that the first quiz would be based on women empowerment. He said that Rs.1000 would be given as prize money for outstanding performance in each round of the quiz. He said that after the completion of eight rounds, Rs 51,000 would be provided to the winner, Rs 21,000 for participant standing second and Rs 11,000 to the participant securing third position. He said that all the participants would be given auto generated digital certificates on behalf of the Government.
