Solan: The Headmaster of The Lawrence School, Sanawar; Mr. Himmat Singh Dhillon , has been awarded with the GSLC (The Global School leaders’ Consortium) Edvantage Collaborative Excellence Award for the year 2024 in appreciation of excellent service and collaborative approach exhibited in the field of education. The award ceremony event titled “GSLC Edvantage-The Confluence of POVs (Colloquium and Collaborative Excellence Honour Ceremony)’ was held on October 5, 2024 at Hyatt Regency, Chandigarh.
Distinguishing himself as a Thought Leader on this Occasion, Mr. Himmat Singh Dhillon, shared his insights on the theme “Breaking Barriers, Bonding over Education”. His thought-provoking address packed with progressive ideas on 21st century transformative education was received with a huge round of applause and appreciation for which he was presented the Certificate of Appreciation for being a Distinguished Speaker at the panel discussion in the debate format. Addressing the gathering of eminent educationists and edupreures, Himmat Dhillon dwelled elaborately on the concept of ‘Campus as Curriculum’ and said, “Nature is the best educator and all the best possible efforts should be made to take students closer to the myriad lessons nature is constantly teaching about almost every subject including the life guiding subject such as philosophy. A teacher in the present pedagogical era is best placed as guide by the side and must shun his image of Sage on the Stage.”
The GSLC (The Global School leaders’ Consortium) Edvantage Collaborative Excellence Award has been conferred upon Himmat Singh Dhillon in recognition of his dynamic leadership role at The Lawrence School, Sanawar. The students and the staff of the School recently celebrated “Shiksha Saptah” participating in various activities such Community Service, Tree Plantation Drive, and the Career Fair spanned out over a week with an aim to foster a spirit of collaboration and innovation among learners and educators commemorating the 4th anniversary of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. In the Community Service program, the students had felicitated the army personnel from Kasauli Brigade for their timely support in fighting the forest fires around the School Campus, and expressed their gratitude to the local police authorities for generous support honouring Dharamveer Singh, SHO, Kasauli, and Balbir Singh, Chowki In-Charge, Gharkhal along with other subordinate staff.
In recognition of the value of breaking barriers and bonding over education, the School staff and students had honoured the Safai Mitrs(Hygiene and Sanitation workers) on the Occasion of Gandhi Jayanti and Mona Chanchal, The Panchayat Pradhan of Grakhal-Kasauli Panchayat. Furthermore, during Van Mahotsav (tree-plantation drive) was celebrated in which approximately 150 saplings of trees like Deodar and Oak were planted by students of Classes 9 and 10. A special feature of this event was the #Plant4Mother initiative celebrating the sacred bond between mothers and children, and our relation with Mother Earth. Around ten pairs of mother-child duo graced the occasion and did the honors by sowing tree saplings.
The “Shiksha Saptah” celebration also witnessed a Global Career Fair on July 31st, 2024 in which students eagerly partook, gaining valuable understanding to make informed decisions about their higher studies including their potential careers, the best courses, and the colleges. Gaining a broader perspective, the students from the host school along with several , other schools from Himachal Pradesh gained insightful and beneficial conversations about admissions procedures, scholarships, and other course specifics with university envoys from Trinity College Dublin, Australian University, Swiss Education Group, Campus France, Ashoka University, Le Rosche, Indian School of Hospitality, OP Jindal Global University, Mahindra University, Hyderabad, Chitkara University, BML Munjal University, World University of Design, Indian Institute of Art and Design, Ahmedabad University and many more.
Amid cheers and celebrations over the honours bestowed upon the School, Ravi Kumar, the Deputy Headmaster of The Lawrence School, Sanawar, said, “Considering our concerted efforts to provide a truly wholesome education under the able of guidance of the Headmaster Himmat Singh Dhillon this award was long overdue. However, we will not sit on the laurels and continue to march forward with renewed rigour and vigour”.
