Later Hazarika visited Manikpur area and inspected the flood-affected areas. Mentionable is that a project for reconstruction of dams in Manikpur is already underway but some problems in land acquisition hampered the progress of works. He directed the local authority to work actively to resolve the land issue.

At the same time, Hazarika directed the water resources department to do some urgent work to relieve the area from floods during the monsoon season. He also visited Mahadevpur on Indo-Bangla border areas to inspect the sluice gate on Boleswar river. During his visit last year, the minister found that six sluice gates constructed under several departments were not functioning. He directed the concerned engineers to repair the sluice gates urgently.

In presence of Parliamentarian Rajdeep Roy, legislator Dipyayan Chakraborty, district magistrate Rohan Kumar Jha with other officers, Hazarika asked the executive engineer to personally inspect these sluice gates once a week for the next four months and submit a weekly report to him to ensure that those remain operational during the rainy days.
