Sanawar School Celebrated “Shiksha Saptah”

Solan: The Lawrence School Sanawar Celebrated “Shiksha Saptah” from July 22-28, an initiative of The Ministry of Education, Government of India, to commemorate the 4th anniversary of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The students and the staff of the School participated in various activities spanned out over a week with an aim to foster a spirit of collaboration and innovation among learners and educators. Some of the key events organized this week were Community Service, a Tree Plantation Drive, and the Career Fair.  

In the Community Service program, the headmaster, Mr. Himmat Singh Dhillon, felicitated the army personnel from Kasauli Brigade for their timely support in fighting the forest fires around the School Campus. He also expressed his gratitude to the local police authorities for generous support and felicitated Dharamveer Singh, SHO, Kasauli, and Balbir Singh, Chowki In-Charge, Gharkhal along with other subordinate staff. The School also felicitated Mona Chanchal, The Panchayat Pradhan of Grakhal-Kasauli Panchayat for her enabling role in successful conduct of various social welfare activities undertaken by the School in the neighboring communities.  The purpose of this very initiative was to inculcate among students the attitude of gratitude to those people who work hard round the clock to ensure our well-being.

Furthermore during this week, Van Mahotsav(tree-plantation drive) was celebrated on 30th July 2024 in which approximately 150 saplings of trees like Deodar and Oak were planted by students of Classes 9 and 10. A special feature of this event was the #Plant4Mother initiative celebrating the sacred bond between mothers and children, and our relation with Mother Earth. Around ten pairs of mother-child duo graced the occasion and did the honors by sowing tree saplings. This occasion also marked the presence of some esteemed guests on the campus who also joined the tree-plantation drive. These guests included those seven alumni who had successfully summited the Mount Everest in 2013 when they were students of the School.

The “Shiksha Saptah” celebration also witnessed a Global Career Fair on July 31st, 2024 in which students eagerly partook, gaining valuable understandings to make informed decisions about their higher studies including their potential careers, the best courses, and the colleges.  Gaining a broader perspective, the students from the host school along with several , other schools from Himachal Pradesh gained insightful and beneficial conversations about admissions procedures, scholarships, and other course specifics with university envoys from Trinity College Dublin, Australian University, Swiss Education Group, Campus France, Ashoka University, Le Rosche, Indian School of Hospitality, OP Jindal Global University, Mahindra University, Hyderabad, Chitkara University, BML Munjal University, World University of Design, Indian Institute of Art and Design, Ahmedabad University and many more.

Expressing his happiness and satisfaction over the celebrations, The Headmaster, Himmat Singh Dhillon said, “Sanawar is committed to implement the NEP 2020 in letter and spirit. The faculty at Sanawar is constantly upgrading their skills and innovating teaching methodologies to impart experiential learning to the students’ community.”
