Shimla: Newly admitted students of Shimla University (APG) are enthusiastically participating in a special educational excursion organised as part of the university’s orientation programme.
The initiative aims to introduce students from different parts of Himachal Pradesh and other states to the rich cultural, historical and natural heritage of Shimla and Solan.
As part of the programme, Group A of the newly admitted students visited the renowned Mohan Heritage Park in Solan on Wednesday under the guidance of teachers and faculty members.
The students were captivated by the park’s magnificent architecture, cultural heritage and picturesque setting against the backdrop of scenic hills. During the visit, faculty members briefed them about the historical significance of the region and various aspects related to the preservation of cultural heritage.
Continuing the initiative, Group B of the newly admitted students left on Thursday for an educational visit to various historical and tourist destinations in and around Solan and Shimla.
The university administration said that such educational and cultural excursions provide students with an opportunity to understand the culture, history and environment of their new place of study. These visits also help strengthen interaction, harmony and team spirit among students belonging to different states.
Students from across India explored Himachal Pradesh’s rich heritage together, while faculty members familiarised them with the historical and social significance of the places visited throughout the journey.
Shimla University’s initiative to encourage learning beyond classroom walls, amid nature and history, is proving to be an enriching and memorable experience for the newly admitted students.
