Shoolini University’s Summer School 2025 Empowers Young Students with Innovation and Scientific Skills

Solan: Shoolini University Summer School 2025, a two-week immersive programme aimed at nurturing scientific temper, innovation and creativity among school students concluded on Sunday. More than 100 students from cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Jalandhar, Pune and Ahmedabad participated in the Summer Patent School and Summer Lab Programme held on the campus. 

The Summer Schools were launched under the guidance of Vice Chancellor, Shoolini University Prof. Atul Khosla, who believes that young minds should be empowered early to think independently and create solutions for real-world problems. Prof. Khosla’s vision, rooted in the belief that “Ideas Matter”, formed the foundation of the entire programme. Prof Atul Khosla emphasised that students at the school level are fully capable of innovation if given the right support and opportunities.

The Summer Patent School introduced students to the fundamentals of intellectual property and the process of developing patentable ideas. Led by Shoolini University’s Intellectual Property Rights team ,Mr. Himanshu Sharma, Ms. Richika Mehta and Ms. Disha, the programme helped participants understand idea development, innovation frameworks and patent laws. The initiative concluded with over 20 patentable ideas being submitted by the participants. Sessions by Dr. Vinay Negi on entrepreneurship and Ms. Payal Khanna on leadership skills added further depth to the students’ learning.

Running parallel to this, the Summer Lab Programme focused on hands-on scientific learning through three thematic areas. In the biotechnology stream, students gained practical exposure to microbiology, genetics and molecular biology in the university’s advanced labs under the mentorship of experienced faculty. The generative AI segment guided students through artificial intelligence tools, prompt engineering and ethical AI use, led by experts including Dr. Pankaj Vaidya, Dr. Piyush Sewal, Dr. Waleed Salehi and Dr. Abhishek Tomar. A third stream introduced students to science communication through theatre and filmmaking, where renowned NSD alumnus and Assistent Prof. at Shoolini University  Mr. Ankur Bashar trained students to creatively communicate complex scientific concepts using performance and storytelling techniques.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Programme Head Mr. Vinmre Kaushal said that the two-week event created a unique space for school students to discover their strengths and engage deeply with new ideas. He said the combination of scientific learning and creative expression led to outstanding outcomes in each stream, and the energy and diversity brought in by students from across the country made the experience even more enriching.
