The Lawrence School Hosts 2nd Himachal Pradesh State Swimming Championship 2025

Shimla: The serene hills of Sanawar came alive with energy and excitement today as The Lawrence School, Sanawar proudly hosted the Second Himachal Pradesh State Swimming Championship, 2025 at its world-class swimming complex.

A total of 178 promising young swimmers from districts across the state—Shimla, Kangra, Mandi, Solan, Una, Baddi, Palampur, and Hamirpur—converged on campus for the two-day aquatic showdown, competing not just for medals but for the pride of their districts.

The championship was inaugurated amid much fanfare by Mr. Vinod Sultanpuri, Hon’ble MLA of the Kasauli Constituency, who declared the meet open in a spirited ceremony. Addressing the participants, Mr. Sultanpuri inspired the young athletes to compete with integrity and uphold the honour of sport, saying, “Let this event not only be about winning, but about celebrating fair play, discipline, and district pride.”

The inaugural session featured a solemn oath-taking ceremony, led by Deven Deswal, Captain of the Sanawar Swimming Team. The pledge, taken by all participating athletes, affirmed their commitment to ethical competition and mutual respect in sport.

Delivering the vote of thanks, Mr. Himmat Singh Dhillon, Headmaster of The Lawrence School, Sanawar, reiterated the school’s dedication to developing top-tier sports infrastructure. “Sanawar remains committed to creating an enabling environment for young athletes to thrive. Our state-of-the-art swimming complex is a testament to our vision. We look forward to hosting more such mega sporting events in the future,” he stated. The event marks another milestone in Sanawar’s growing legacy as a hub of sporting excellence in Himachal Pradesh.
