Solan: Books became the most prized possession at the prestigious Annual Prize Giving Ceremony held at The Lawrence School, Sanawar, as over 100 students were celebrated for their exceptional achievements in the academic year 2024-25 . The event saw the awarding of more than 300 books, each accompanied by a certificate, as a tribute to the students’ dedication to academic and co-curricular excellence.
Rajesh Dharmani, Hon’ble Minister for Town and Country Planning, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and presented the awards to the young achievers. Vinod Sultanpuri, local MLA from Kasauli and a proud alumnus of the School, was the Guest of Honour.

Renowned globally as one of the oldest co-educational residential schools, The Lawrence School, Sanawar once again underscored its commitment to holistic development by honouring over 100 students, including 60 girls, across more than 60 curricular and co-curricular disciplines. The event began with the ceremonial felicitation of the Chief Guest, followed by an invocation through Saraswati Vandana and an array of cultural performances by the talented students.
The highlight of the day was the grand distribution of prizes to students who demonstrated outstanding performance in academics, co-curricular activities, and value-based learning. In a notable academic achievement, 15 students received cash awards for securing the highest marks in individual subjects in the CBSE Board Results. Recognising consistent academic excellence, 28 students were conferred the prestigious Scholar’s Tie for the academic year 2024–25.
Extending beyond academics, more than 50 students were honoured for their exceptional skills in over 30 co-curricular areas, including Robotics, Indian Music and Dance, Multimedia, Social Work, Debating, Photography, Dramatics, Fashion Design, Band, and Artificial Intelligence. Special awards included the Durant Prize for English Literature, awarded to Moksha Harnal and Sanaa Swani, while Mugdha Thakur received the Yog Raj Palta Memorial Art Trophy for excellence in Fine Art. The coveted Cariappa Shield for the Best Boarding House was awarded to Himalaya House.
In a moment of pride for the School, the Chief Guest also presented the ‘GSLC AcadElite EduBeacon’ Trophy to Mr. Himmat Singh Dhillon, Headmaster of The Lawrence School, Sanawar, conferred by the Global School Leader Consortium, New Delhi.
Commending the students, Mr. Dharmani remarked, “Awards are important but effort is even more important. Consistent effort is the key to excellence.” In his concluding address, Mr. Himmat Singh Dhillon reaffirmed the School’s commitment to the pedagogical vision of the National Education Policy (2020) and the National Curriculum Framework, adding that Sanawar is actively supporting capacity building in other schools across the state. He emphasized the School’s unique educational philosophy, encouraging students to embrace the idea of ‘Campus as Curriculum’ as a pathway to experiential learning.
Mr. Dhillon concluded the ceremony with a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the distinguished guests and applauding the tireless efforts of students, faculty, and parents in shaping an inspiring educational journey.
