Solan: Himachal Pradesh: Tour de Sanawar, the Annual Cyclothon organized by The Lawrence School, Sanawar in collaboration with The Old Sanawarian Society, the school’s alumni organization, was organized on Sunday. As many as 175 cyclists from 16 schools and more than 20 cities, including Bangalore, Pune, and Guwahati participated across four age-categories in this event.
Pankaj Munjal, Chairman, Hero Cycles (also the alumni of the school) and Pankaj Sapru, the President of the Old Sanawarian Society in the presence of Himmat Singh Dhillon, School’s Headmaster flagged off the event.
One of the high points of the event was the dare-devil cycle stunt show performed by Lakshay Jangid, a pro MTB stunt rider and four times world champion as well as a World Record Holder in cycling stunts.
The first position in the Junior Category was bagged by Aarini of The Lawrence School, Sanawar amongst the girls and Saarthak Thakur of Stokes Memorial, Shimla in the Boys’ Category. In the Senior Category, the first positions amongst the girls and the boys were awarded to Manasvi Badola of The Lawrence School, Sanawar and Arnav of GMSS respectively. Divija Sood and Divyansh Kaushal, both from Shimla won in the Amateur women and men category respectively.
Ayush Negi of SCOTT HASTPA was declared winner in the Elite category. Samaira Dhankar, Mannat Gill, Rehan Kumar, Manya Kapoor, all from The Lawrence School, Sanawar also bagged positions amongst Top 3 Cyclists in their respective categories.
