Shimla: APG Shimla University celebrated its 14th Foundation Day alongside Teachers’ Day on Friday, honoring faculty and staff members for their contributions to the institution’s growth.
The day-long event opened with students expressing gratitude to their teachers, followed by official ceremonies attended by university leadership, faculty, and students. Key staff members and long-serving employees who supported the institution through its growth phases received awards, appreciation certificates, and medals.
Speaking to the gathering, the Chancellor noted that over its 14-year history, the university has expanded its reach, attracting students from Himachal Pradesh, other parts of India, and international locations. Looking ahead, he emphasized that the institution will increase its focus on research, career development, employment generation, and campus infrastructure.
Newly appointed Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Devinder Sharma commended the faculty and praised the cultural showcases presented by the students. The performances featured traditional Himachali Nati, Punjabi, and Kangri dances, alongside a welcome routine. To recognize their efforts, the university management awarded each performing cultural team a cash prize of 5,100 rupees.
Registrar Prof. Dr. R.L. Sharma spoke on the role of educators in shaping the university, pointing out that faculty involvement in research, practical learning, and innovation has been crucial to student development.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dean of Faculty Dr. Ashwani Sharma. The ceremony was attended by senior leadership, including Pro-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ramesh Chauhan, Advisor Engineer Suman Vikrant, Dean of Academics Dr. Anand Mohan Sharma, and Director of Admissions Usha Chauhan, alongside department heads and administrative staff.
