Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on the occasion of first foundation day of Himachal Pradesh State Food Commission launched website here today.
Speaking on the occasion Chief Minister said that the main objective of this website was to spread awareness about right of food in the State. He said that Commission has also prepared a draft of Food and Nutrition Policy which would be uploaded on the website so that all the stakeholders could be sensitized and their feedback could be obtained.
Jai Ram Thakur said that State Government has taken various steps to redress malnutrition and anaemia particularly amongst children and women in the state. He said that the integrated and comprehensive food policy would help in appreciating and directing the State on path of healthy Himachal.
Chief Minister said that the State Government was ensuring that every eligible citizen gets benefits of various schemes like public distribution system, mid day meal, integrated child development services and Pradhan Mantri Matri Vandana Yojna. He said that the State Government was also providing fortified wheat flour and rice to consumers of PDS to add nutritional value.
Chairman, State Food Commission Dr. Surender Singh Ghonkrokta welcomed the Chief Minister and apprised him about the functioning of the Commission. He also apprised the Chief Minister regarding unique features of the website.
Secretary Food and Civil Supplies C. Paulrasu, Advisor to the Chief Minister Dr. R.N. Batta, Managing Director HP State Civil Supplies Corporation K. C. Chaman, Member Secretary Anil Chauhan and other official and non official members of the Commission were also present on the occasion.
