Solan: Col. Sanjay Shandil, a respected Army veteran and former Commanding Officer of 1 HP Girls Battalion NCC, Solan, has earned a PhD in Commerce and Management. The doctorate was awarded by ARKA JAIN University, Jharkhand, under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Angad Tiwary. His research, titled “Exploring the Role of NCC in Fostering HR Potential Among Tribal Youth,” offers a detailed comparison of NCC cadets in Himachal Pradesh and Jharkhand. It focuses on how NCC shapes tribal youth through discipline, training, and leadership.

The study gives valuable insight into the role of NCC in unlocking the potential of young people in tribal regions. So, it serves as a guide for educators, defence institutions, and policymakers who are working on inclusive youth development. Col. Shandil emotionally dedicated this achievement to his late mother, Smt. Indra Shandil. He said her love, values, and blessings shaped his journey. “This doctorate is more than a degree. It reflects the strength of education, the discipline of service, and my mother’s lasting influence,” he stated.
After retiring from the Army, Col. Shandil has shifted his focus to social and political service. He now works actively in areas like youth empowerment, education, and public welfare. His continued dedication keeps earning him public respect and growing recognition. This milestone highlights his lifelong commitment to building a stronger and more educated society—both in and out of uniform.
