Guwahati: Dibrugarh in eastern Assam is hosting Yoga Mahotsav of the Ayush ministry on 7 April to commemorate the 75 days to International Yoga Day. Union ports, shipping & waterways and Ayush minister Sarbananda Sonowal recently visited the Dibrugarh University campus to take stock of the preparation for the important event. He was accompanied by State health minister Keshab Mahanta along with concerned senior officials.
“It is a moment of great pride as our beautiful Dibrugarh gets ready to host one of the biggest Yoga events in India. It is a wonderful connection that we also celebrate World Health Day the same day with an aim to create a conduit for humanity to live better, healthier & happier,” said Sonowal adding that with the consistent effort of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Yoga becomes a global movement for achieving better health & mind.

Yoga Mahotsav aims to promote inclusivity and celebrate diversity by involving different segments of society in activities that promote health, commented Sonowal calling upon everyone to adapt Yoga in daily lives and enjoy the wonder fruits of India’s rich heritage.
He also interacted with the University vice-chancellor professor Jiten Hazarika along with the faculties and students. The discussions ranged on different topics ranging from the importance of Ayush in improving their lives to the opportunities created for the benefit of students. Sonowal stated that students are the backbone of India’s future and the direction, pace & timing of the growth & progress is intrinsically linked with the student’s community.
