Ex-SBI Foundation Chairman Nixon Joseph inspires APG Shimla students to become future Entrepreneurs

Shimla: Former Chairman of the SBI Foundation, Nixon Joseph, joined a job-placement workshop at APG Shimla University on Thursday. His message was clear—students must focus on skill-building and entrepreneurship to succeed in today’s competitive world. The workshop was led by Dr. Monika Verma, Head of the Job-Placement Cell, and Prof. Dr. Anand Mohan Sharma, Dean of Academics. Nixon Joseph served as an expert guest and addressed the university’s recent graduates.

During his talk, Joseph stressed the importance of applying academic skills in real-life work. He encouraged students not to chase jobs blindly. Instead, he urged them to consider starting their own ventures. Becoming a job creator, he said, is far more impactful than just being a job seeker. He emphasized that skills alone are not enough. Leadership, strong communication, problem-solving ability, discipline, and creative thinking are equally important. These, combined with knowledge and innovation, help young people stand out.

According to Joseph, success should never be measured by money alone. He explained that real success comes from helping society and contributing to national progress. He also noted that India still follows outdated education models. While that adds to the unemployment issue, he expressed hope in the New Education Policy.

Joseph also introduced students to the SBI Foundation’s goals and its flagship initiative, the SBI Youth for India Fellowship. He said the foundation focuses on social development, especially for marginalized communities. He explained that the foundation works in fields like education, health, livelihood, and the environment. Its efforts support rural schools, skill training for youth, healthcare access, clean water, and waste management programs.

Students were eager to interact and asked many questions about how the SBI Foundation supports youth and entrepreneurs. Joseph responded with real examples, highlighting how their work has changed lives across India. He stated that the foundation’s core goal is to push for social justice and sustainable development through active partnerships with NGOs and grassroots leaders.

At the end of the session, Dr. Monika Verma, Prof. Dr. Anand Mohan Sharma, and other department heads thanked Joseph. They appreciated his guidance and motivation, which, they said, would surely push students to dream bigger and become successful entrepreneurs.
