Solan: The Lawrence School, Sanawar, marked the auspicious occasion of Guruprurab with a vibrant and spiritual celebration on November 15, 2024. The School, renowned for its rich legacy and commitment to fostering values of unity, peace, and inclusivity, observed the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji with great reverence and enthusiasm.
At the break of the dawn, few students visited the local Gurudwara in Gadkhal to fetch the Holy Gurgranth Sahib(Beed) to celebrate Prakash-Utsav. The students and staff gathered in the Som Dutt Sports Centre (SSC) to offer their prayers and seek blessings from Guru Nanak Dev Ji. A group of twelve students from Akal Academy-Baru sahib, accompanied by their teachers, also joined the celebrations. The atmosphere was filled with the harmonious sounds of kirtans (devotional hymns), Shabad, Ardaas and Jap Ji Saab recital which resonated through the campus, creating an atmosphere of peace and devotion. A few students delivered speeches narrating the life and message of Guru Nanak Ji.
After the prayer service, Guru ka Langar(community Kitchen) was organized where students and faculty members came together to serve food to the community members of Sanawar. The Headmaster, Himmat Singh Dhillon, in his address to the gathering counselled the students to imbibe the message of Gurunanak such as equality, humility, and service to humanity in our thought and action to make our life worthy and purposeful. He emphasized the importance of living with compassion, empathy, and respect for all, regardless of race, religion, or background. “Guru Nanak’s message of ‘Ek Onkar’ — the belief in the oneness of God and all humanity — is more relevant than ever in our global society,” Himmat Dhillon further said, “ At Sanawar, we strive to instill these values in our students so they can become responsible, compassionate leaders of tomorrow.” The Headmaster thanked the delegation from Baru Sahib and felicitated them with Shiropas(Rope of Honour).
