Shimla: Himachal Pradesh continues to battle the relentless onslaught of heavy rains, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. The state has witnessed nature’s fury in various districts in a series of unfortunate events. The calamitous impact of the rainfall has once again come to the forefront, with several incidents sending shockwaves throughout the region.
The Solan district turned into a scene of devastation when a sudden cloudburst wreaked havoc in the village of Jadaun, located in the Kandaghat sub-division. At 1.30 am, a torrential downpour led to the tragic loss of life and property. A heart-wrenching toll of seven lives was reported as the force of the cloudburst swept two houses and a cowshed.
The Chief Minister expressed his grief on social media, stating, “Devastated to hear about the loss of 7 precious lives in the tragic cloud burst incident at Village Jadon, Dhawla Sub-Tehsil in Solan District. My heartfelt condolences go out to the grieving families. We share in your pain and sorrow during this difficult time. We have directed the authorities to ensure all possible assistance and support to the affected families during this trying period”.
The deceased have been identified as Harnam Singh (38) S/o Rati Ram, Khemlata (34) W/o Harnam Singh, Rahul (13) S/o Harnam Singh, Neha (11) D/o Harnam Singh, Kamal Kishore (38) S/o Bhagat Ram, Gaurav (9) S/oKamal Kishore and Raksha (12) D/o Kamal Kishore .
In another unfortunate turn of events, the capital city of Shimla witnessed the collapse of a Shiv temple due to incessant rainfall. The downpour led to the unfortunate loss of nine lives, with concerns growing over the fate of more than 50 devotees feared to be trapped under the debris.
A rescue operation has been launched at the temple site as authorities work tirelessly to save any lives that may still be trapped. The local administration and rescue teams are diligently clearing the debris in a race against time to locate and rescue any individuals who might be buried beneath the rubble.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu expressed his deep distress at the unfortunate incident, conveying his sympathies to the affected families. He shared on social media, “Distressing news has emerged from Shimla, where the ‘Shiv Mandir’ at Summer Hill collapsed due to heavy rainfall. As of now, nine bodies have been retrieved. The local administration is diligently working to clear the debris to rescue individuals who may still be trapped,” he wrote.
As Himachal Pradesh battles nature’s fury, the state remains united in its efforts to overcome these challenging times.
