Himachal’s Dhananjay Chanta Shines at World Table Tennis Youth Contender 2026

Vadodara: Rising table tennis star Dhananjay Singh Chanta has made his mark on the international stage with a strong performance at the World Table Tennis (WTT) Youth Contender and Feeder Vadodara 2026. The tournament, held from January 2 to January 11, featured over 300 players from 10 countries.

Competing in both the Under-17 and Under-19 categories, Dhananjay displayed impressive skill and composure to reach the Top 32 in both divisions. Reaching this stage in such a highly competitive global field is a significant milestone for the young athlete.

Hailing from the village of Kaina in Jubbal, Shimla district, Dhananjay is the son of Kushal Chanta and Arti Thakur Chanta. His journey in the sport began during his school years at St. Luke’s in Solan. His talent was evident early on; he competed in his first National Championship at just nine years old in 2018. By age 10, he achieved a rare feat by being selected by the Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB).

To date, Dhananjay has built a formidable competitive resume, including participation in seven National Championships and four CBSE Nationals. His trophy cabinet includes a bronze medal in the Under-13 National Championships and a CBSE National title won in 2023. His performance in Vadodara further cements his reputation as one of India’s most promising young paddlers to watch on the international circuit.
