HP Crime IG Urges Students to Fight Drug Menace at Shoolini University Constitution Day

Solan: The Faculty of Legal Sciences at Shoolini University observed Samvidhan Diwas (Constitution Day) with a series of events aimed at promoting legal literacy. The celebrations also marked the conclusion of the three-day Law Fest 4.0.

Himachal Pradesh Inspector General of Police (Crime), Bindu Rani, attended the event as the Chief Guest. In her address, she encouraged students to uphold constitutional values and contribute meaningfully to society as future legal professionals.

She also delivered a strong message regarding the growing issue of “Chitta” (heroin) consumption among the youth, highlighting its serious physical and social consequences. She urged the students to remain vigilant and help spread awareness in their communities.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Atul Khosla reiterated the university’s commitment to nurturing responsible citizens. He noted that initiatives like Samvidhan Diwas help shape future-ready legal professionals.

The celebrations included a debate competition, a poster-making contest, and an awareness parade where students carried placards with messages on constitutional rights and drug abuse prevention. Ms. Lakshmi Vasundhara won the debate competition for her articulate arguments, while Doter secured the first position in the poster-making category.

The event served as the closing ceremony for Law Fest 4.0, which ran from November 24 to 26, 2025. Organized by the Centre for Clinical Legal Education (CCLE) under Dr. Renu Pal Sood, the fest saw participation from over 30 teams across various institutions. It featured a blend of offline events like Moot Court and Crime Scene Investigation, alongside online competitions such as PIL Drafting and Legislative Review.

Prof. Nandan Sharma, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Legal Sciences, thanked the administration, faculty, and student volunteers for the event’s success.
