Solan: Students from the L.R. Group of Institutes in Solan recently took part in an educational tour of the Solan Natural Farmers Producer Company Pvt. Ltd. in Subathu. Established in August 2022, the organization holds the distinction of being India’s first women-centric farmer producer company dedicated specifically to natural farming.
The primary goal of the visit was to introduce students to the real-world stories of leadership and entrepreneurship emerging from the local agricultural sector. The company is unique in that its entire board of directors consists of women farmers who have transitioned from traditional roles to executive leadership.

During the session, students interacted with board members Mamta Verma, Urmila Verma, Manju, Bharti Thakur, and Vandana Thakur. The farmers shared their personal journeys toward self-reliance, discussing the challenges they faced in organizing a collective and the management skills required to run a modern agricultural business.
To mark the occasion, the L.R. Group of Institutes formally honored the women for their contributions to the community. Shachi Singh, Honorary Managing Director of the institute, noted that these farmers serve as a powerful example of how women can lead and transform the economy through organized, sustainable efforts.
“International Women’s Day is a reminder of this leadership,” Singh said, “but these women prove it every day by strengthening both our society and our soil.”
The company’s CEO, Ranjodh Singh Dhillon, explained that the organization currently operates with the support of 102 member farmers. Their ongoing mission is to expand the reach of natural farming while ensuring that the women driving the movement remain at the forefront of its success.
