Solan: Law students at the LR Institute of Legal Studies in Solan gained practical insights into the modern legal landscape during a pair of expert guest lectures this week.
Prof. (Dr.) Param Jeet Singh, former Dean of the Faculty of Law at Punjabi University, Patiala, opened the event with an interactive session on Evidence Law. Moving beyond standard textbook theory, he drew on his extensive background to show students how evidence rules apply in real courtroom scenarios.

In a separate address, Prof. (Dr.) Jawahar Lal Kaul, former Vice-Chancellor of Vikram University, Ujjain, and Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University, spoke on the core concept of justice. The former University of Delhi law professor reminded the audience that standing for the truth often means siding with the minority. He noted that history remembers the moral courage of individuals who refuse to abandon justice, calling independent thinking the true mark of a good lawyer and judge. He also urged the future professionals to prepare for both the opportunities and challenges brought by artificial intelligence in legal research and administration.
Closing the event, LR Institute Principal and Director Prof. (Dr.) Sunil Deshta, who formerly served as Dean of the Law Department at Himachal Pradesh University, thanked the speakers. He reminded the cohort that a legal education is fundamentally meant to serve the cause of justice rather than simply secure a job.
