Solan: The College of Horticulture and Forestry, Neri, emerged victorious in the Entomological Quiz organized by the Entomology Club and the Department of Entomology at Dr. Y.S. Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry (UHF), Nauni.
Six teams from three universities-Shoolini University, Eternal University, Baru Sahib and UHF Nauni, competed in the quiz. The competition featured four rounds, covering a wide range of topics such as agricultural entomology, taxonomy, the historical evolution of insect studies, and insect identification.
After a series of challenging rounds, the team from the College of Horticulture and Forestry, Neri, demonstrated outstanding knowledge and quick reflexes, securing first place. The College of Horticulture, Nauni, claimed second place beating stiff competition from the College of Horticulture and Forestry, Thunag, who came in third.
The event was attended by students and faculty members from various departments. Dr. Manish Kumar, Dean of the College of Horticulture, inaugurated the competition and encouraged students to strive for academic excellence, build inter-university relationships, and expand their understanding of entomological sciences. He also emphasized the importance of inviting more teams from other state agricultural universities in future competitions.
Dr. K.K. Raina, Dean of Students’ Welfare at UHF Nauni, concluded the ceremony, commending the students and faculty for their hard work and preparation. Faculty members also praised all the participants for their enthusiasm, highlighting the value of such events in fostering scientific curiosity among students.
The quiz concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, where the winning team was felicitated for their achievement. The success of this event reinforced the University’s commitment to promoting academic excellence and collaborative learning in the field of entomology.
