Solan: The Ninth edition of the Alumni Cricket Bash (ACB) 2024 is being organised by The Old Sanawarian Society (OSS) from November 22-24 at PCA’s Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur near Chandigarh. This is an annual event which brings alumni of India’s five most prestigious schools on a single platform, through the spirit of cricket.
The Tournament’s trophy was unveiled at The Lawrence School, Sanawar amid participating teams, members of the Board of Governors, and Headmasters and the OSS Executive Committee on Thursday. While addressing a press conference during the unveiling ceremony, President OSS Pankaj Sapru informed that this year the tournament is being hosted by The Lawrence School, Sanawar. The first edition of ACB was held in 2015 and has grown from strength to strength over the years on account of massive response received. The host team is led by Aditya Jain, Scindia School, Gwalior by Kunal Misra, Mayo College, Ajmer by Vir Vikram Yadav, Daly College, Indore by Tejvir Juneja and The Doon School, Dehradun under Shrivats Chandra.
While detailing the tournament Pankaj Sapru said that each team has an 18 members squad and it is mandatory that two above-fifty years and a maximum of four below-thirty years players are part of the playing XI. Eleven T-20 matches, including the Final, overseen by BCCI certified umpires, will be played over the three days. Two points for each win and one point in case of an abandoned or tied match would be awarded.
The top two on the Leader Board, basis CricHeroes app, will lock horns in the finals. Apart from Player of the tournament, Best Batsman, Bowler, Fielder and Wicketkeeper will be awarded. Updates of every match will be available on the CricHeroes app. The tournament is well supported by OSS along with The Lawrence School, Sanawar, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited while other sponsors include Diageo, Coca Cola, Saina Jewels and Gopal Sweets.
Earlier on Thursday, OSS and host school gave a grand welcome to the participating teams on their school campus at Sanawar. After a guided tour of the campus, the teams’ captains paid floral tributes to the martyrs at the War Memorials and the School Choir sang at the Chapel.
The action shifted to the historic ground – Peacestead where President OSS, Pankaj Sapru welcomed the guests. The teams were formally introduced to the Headmaster, Himmat Dhillon and other dignitaries. The School Band gave a scintillating performance, well appreciated by the audience. Headmaster Dhillon, in his vote of thanks, conveyed best wishes to all the participating teams.
