Prof Atul Khosla named among World’s Top 200 Voices in Education

Solan: In a moment of global recognition, Prof Atul Khosla, Founder, President and Vice Chancellor  Shoolini University, has been listed among the world’s Top 200 Voices in Education by LinkedIn. This prestigious recognition celebrates influential thought leaders shaping the future of education across the globe.

Marking 15 years since he moved to Solan to help build Shoolini University and a decade of thought leadership on LinkedIn,  Prof Khosla said it was an honour to be listed among the world’s top 200 voices in education. “It’s now been 15 years in this most exciting space when I moved to Solan to help build Shoolini, and 10 years since I started writing on LinkedIn”, said Prof Khosla.

Sharing his predictions for the future of Indian higher education, he said he anticipates a wave of global universities setting up campuses in India, fundamentally disrupting the Indian academic ecosystem. He termed this transformation as India’s Maruti Suzuki moment in higher education, suggesting that while some institutions may struggle, others will evolve into global leaders.

He said he can foresee a significant shift where Indian students will increasingly choose to study in India, and foreign students will begin to opt for Indian universities, reversing long-held trends. He said the future will see several private and even state-run universities challenging the dominance of IITs and IIMs. Indian institutions are poised to break into the top 100 globally, elevating India’s academic prestige on the world stage.

The Vice Chancellor said preferences for computer science and software engineering will decline. Instead, programmes in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Biotechnology, and Business will dominate student interest. He said while online degrees will gain social acceptance, especially among elite learners, the wider population will continue to value the campus-based college experience.
