Shimla: APG Shimla University hosted the second day of its ‘Aarambh’ orientation program on Tuesday for students entering the 2026–27 academic year. Along with campus introductions, the university partnered with IGMC Shimla to conduct a comprehensive health and medical check-up for the new arrivals. The event opened with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony and Saraswati Vandana, welcoming a diverse group of new students from across Himachal Pradesh, other parts of India, and abroad.
Presiding over the event, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rajendra Singh Chauhan encouraged the incoming class to remain focused, disciplined, and resilient. He highlighted that university life extends far beyond earning a degree, serving as a crucial phase for personal growth and character building.

Prof. Chauhan outlined the university’s commitment to pairing academic theory with practical skills, pointing to alumni currently working in government and corporate sectors worldwide as evidence of the institution’s impact.
Registrar Prof. R. L. Sharma spoke about the university’s core philosophy, urging students to take inspiration from the natural surroundings of the campus while staying mindful of community contribution. He also briefed the attendees on UGC guidelines, campus conduct, and administrative policies.
To prioritize student health from day one, a team from IGMC Shimla led by Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr. Parveen Bhatia and Pharmacy Officer Sunil Thakur provided medical screenings and wellness advice to the new cohort.
Throughout two structured sessions, students explored the campus infrastructure, academic departments, student-led clubs, and placement support systems. Senior faculty, department heads, and university leaders, including Pro-Chancellor Dr. Amesh Chauhan and Dean of Academics Prof. Anand Mohan Sharma, attended to welcome the incoming class and promise a safe, well-equipped academic journey.
