Shoolini University Law students gain firsthand courtroom experience

Solan: Law students of the Faculty of Legal Sciences, Shoolini University, got an opportunity to witness justice in action during their educational visit to the Lok Adalat held at the District Court premises, Solan.

The visit, organised under the banner of the Legal Aid Clinic, aimed to provide BALLB and LLB students with practical exposure to the workings of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) systems in India.

During the visit, the students interacted with Judicial Officers including Dr. Arvind Malhotra (District & Sessions Judge), Sh. Abhay Mandyal (District & Sessions Judge-I), Mr. Vivek Khanal (Addl. District and Sessions Judge-II), Mrs. Divya Jyoti Patiyal (CJM), Mrs. Sonal Sharma (Addl. CJM Court-I), and Mr. Mihul Sharma (Addl. CJM Court-II).

The judges guided the students on the Legal Services Authority Act, 1987, the functioning of Lok Adalats, and the importance of ADR methods such as mediation, conciliation, and arbitration. They also shared valuable insights on Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act (cheque dishonour cases), compensation rules, appeal processes, and Supreme Court directions on court fees.

Dr. Nandan Sharma, Associate Dean, Faculty of Legal Sciences, motivated the students by highlighting the importance of such visits in shaping socially responsible and empathetic legal professionals.

The event was coordinated by Mr. Vineet Kumar, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Legal Sciences, who appreciated the discipline and enthusiasm of the students. He further encouraged them to participate in such initiatives that connect classroom learning with real-world courtroom practices. Special recognition was given to Pallvi (LLB 3rd Semester) and Rijul (BALLB 5th Semester) for their efforts in coordinating the visit.
