Solan Police Crack ₹12 Lakh Online Job Fraud, Arrest Duo from Uttarakhand and Recover ₹6 Lakh

Solan: In a significant breakthrough, the Solan Police have arrested two individuals from Uttarakhand in connection with a sophisticated online job scam, duping a local resident of approximately ₹12 lakh. The police have also recovered ₹6 lakh of the defrauded amount from the accused.

The case began on August 27, 2025, when Mr. Dalip Kumar, a resident of Kotla, filed a complaint at the Sadar Police Station in Solan. He reported that he had received a message on Telegram from a person named ‘Anamika’, offering a work-from-home opportunity to earn ₹1,500 to ₹1,800 daily by reviewing hotels and properties for a company called ‘Priceline.com’.

Initially, the scheme appeared legitimate. Mr. Kumar completed the assigned tasks and was able to withdraw small amounts of money, which helped the fraudsters gain his trust. However, on August 19, the scammers introduced “premium orders,” which required him to deposit his own money into various bank accounts to complete the tasks and unlock his earnings. The amounts kept escalating until August 27, when he was asked for a very large sum to “save” his previous investments. Realizing he had been cheated, he approached the police.

Acting swiftly, the Cyber Cell of the Solan Police launched a detailed investigation. They meticulously analyzed the victim’s bank transactions, obtained KYC details of the suspect accounts, and traced the associated mobile numbers. The digital trail led the investigation team to the Sitarganj and Nanakmatta areas of Uttarakhand, located near the Nepal border.

A special team from Sadar Police Station, Solan, conducted raids at these locations and successfully apprehended two accused: Raj Singh (31) from Nanakmatta and Pooja from Sitarganj. During interrogation, the duo revealed their modus operandi. They would funnel the scammed money through multiple bank accounts to obscure the trail before finally withdrawing it using checks. Both individuals are currently being interrogated for further leads, and the investigation is ongoing.
