Solan – Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced a significant administrative upgrade for Mamligh during a visit to the Solan district on Tuesday, declaring that the sub-tehsil will be elevated to a full tehsil.
Addressing a large public gathering, the Chief Minister also announced the opening of a new Public Works Department (PWD) sub-division for the area. His visit included the dedication of development projects worth Rs. 27.43 crore. He also approved Rs. 50 lakh for the construction of a local school roof.

In his speech, Sukhu highlighted his government’s focus on systemic reforms, particularly in education. He said the state has climbed from 21st to 5th in national education rankings, claiming the standard had deteriorated under the previous BJP government due to frequent teacher transfers. “The present government has taken stringent measures to stop this,” he said, adding that schools opened for “mere political gains” by the previous administration have been closed.
Sukhu said Rajiv Gandhi Day Boarding Schools are now being opened in every constituency, including Mamligh, to prepare rural students for future challenges. He noted that 100 CBSE-based schools are being established in the first phase, which will have a separate teacher cadre.
The Chief Minister also detailed initiatives in other key sectors. He pointed to a Rs. 3,000 crore investment in modern medical technology, including the start of robotic surgery at Chamiyana and Tanda hospitals, and Rs. 75 crore for new automated testing labs. In revenue, he highlighted the ongoing Revenue Lok Adalats and the ‘My Deed’ pilot project, which aims to modernize and digitalize land registration.
Sukhu reiterated his government’s commitment to strengthening the rural economy, citing the increased minimum support price (MSP) for cow and buffalo milk (to Rs. 51 and Rs. 61 per litre, respectively) and higher purchase prices for naturally farmed crops like wheat, maize, and turmeric.
He also accused the previous BJP government of fiscal mismanagement, stating his administration inherited a massive debt. “We have adopted zero-tolerance towards corruption,” he said. Earlier, Health Minister Dr. (Col) Dhani Ram Shandil welcomed the Chief Minister and thanked him for the development projects, especially the new boarding school.
