Swimming Glory Unfolds at Sanawar in State-Level Aquatic Showdown

Solan: The two-day long 2nd Himachal Pradesh State Swimming Championship came to a thrilling conclusion at The Lawrence School, Sanawar, amidst much enthusiasm, celebration, and sportsmanship. The championship, which witnessed 178 swimmers from 12 districts of Himachal Pradesh, including five school teams, brought together young aquatic talent under one roof to compete and showcase their swimming excellence.

The event was graced by Mr. Praveen Bhardwaj, Block Development Officer of Kasauli, who served as the Chief Guest at the closing ceremony. In his address, Mr. Bhardwaj emphasized the critical role of sports in shaping character and building leadership. He commended all participants for their dedication and spirit, adding, “Regardless of win or loss, participation with integrity and fair play is the real celebration of the game.” He also took the opportunity to encourage the youth to be vigilant against the growing menace of drug abuse, urging them to “Say No to Drugs and Yes to Life.”

The event concluded with the prize distribution ceremony and felicitation of officials from the Himachal Pradesh Swimming Federation. The Overall State Championship Trophy (2025) was proudly lifted by the host team, The Lawrence School, Sanawar, while Pinegrove School secured the Runners-Up Trophy.

In the individual award category, Samaira Dhankar of The Lawrence School, Sanawar was adjudged the Best Swimmer in the Girls Open category, while Bhusan Thakur from Solan district was awarded the Best Swimmer in the Boys Open category. In the Under-17 category, Adhiraj Singh from The Lawrence School, Sanawar emerged as the Best Swimmer among boys, and Bhagverdhkma Verma from Solan district was recognized as the Best Swimmer among girls.

In his vote of thanks, Mr. Himmat Singh Dhillon, Headmaster of The Lawrence School, Sanawar, expressed deep appreciation to all participants, coaches, officials, and supporting staff. He said, “It has been an honour and privilege for The Lawrence School, Sanawar, to host the second State Swimming Championship and extend its state-of-the-art swimming facility to the promising young swimmers. The school remains steadfast in its commitment to support and promote sports across Himachal Pradesh.”

The championship not only highlighted the emerging swimming talent in the state but also reinforced the importance of sports as a medium of holistic development and youth engagement.
