Shimla: One day training on Aadhaar based authentication was organized at Himachal Pradesh Institute of Public Administration (HIPA) Shimla today on 20th November2023 by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), Regional Office, Chandigarh. Sh. Jagdish Kumar, Director, Sh. Rana Pritpal Singh, Deputy Director, ShVijay Shankar Singh, Project Manager and Sh. KamalAssistant Manager form the Regional Office, UIDAI Chandigarh were present. About 70 participants including Sh Ravinder Thakur, Joint Director (Department of Food & Civil Supplies), District Food & Civil Supplies Officers, Food and Civil Supplies Inspectors, and PDS operators from different districts of Himachal Pradesh participated in the training.
The primary focus of the workshop was to impart training to these officials and operators on the authentication ecosystem. The training encompassed elements on fundamental network elements, utilization of biometric devices, and guiding the public toward successful authentication along with safety and security pertaining to biometric devices and Aadhaar data.
Sh. Jagdish Kumar, Director UIDAI, highlighted that Aadhaar is playing a game changing role in ensuring that the benefit of various schemes of Central and State Governments reach to the right beneficiaries and also in ensuring that the leakages are plugged and only the deserving citizens avail of the subsidies and other financial benefits from the Government. He further stressed the need for document updation of Aadhaar holders who have not made any updation during the last 10 years and also the significance of Mandatory Biometric Updation (MBU) at the age of 5 and 15 years. He also appreciated the success of the e-KYC campaign conducted by the Directorate of Food and Civil Supplies in the state. He emphasized the extensive use of Aadhaar-based biometric authentication in various sectors such as Land Records, Ration distribution, Digital Life certificates, Gas subsidies, MNREGA and numerous other schemesHe reiterated that the knowledge acquired from this workshop would bolster State Government initiatives aimed at reaching the bonafide beneficiaries, thereby benefiting the residents of Himachal Pradesh.
