Solan: As the general election fever grips the country, a workshop was conducted today at The Lawrence School, Sanawar, aiming to bolster voter turnout and promote informed voting in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024 in Himachal. This voter awareness workshop was a part of the integral focus of Mission 414, as mandated by the Election Commission of India. The Election Commission of India’s Mission 414 initiative strives to address the challenges observed in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections by enhancing voter participation and ensuring a free, fair, and transparent electoral process. Today’s workshop at Lawrence School, Sanawar, marks a significant step towards achieving these objectives.
Narayan Chauhan, the Electoral Registration Officer cum SDM Kasauli, graced the event with his benign presence and addressed the audience emphasizing the pivotal role of all stakeholders in ensuring a robust democratic process. He invoked the collective responsibility of the teaching and non-teaching staff, students, and all associated with the institution to actively participate in the electoral process and contribute to a higher voter turnout.
The workshop witnessed active participation from the Head Master, Deputy Head Master, PRO, and the entire teaching and non-teaching staff of Lawrence School, Sanawar. Each elector was engaged in discussions and sensitized about the importance of voting, marking the celebration of democracy with utmost dedication and vigilance.
Dr. Jagdev Chand Sharma, the SVEEP Nodal Officer for Kasauli Constituency, addressed the electors, shedding light on the IMF-EEE Framework (Information, Motivation, Facilitation – Ethics, Environment, and Engagement) as envisaged by the Election Commission of India. He highlighted the significance of ethical voting and the impact of an informed electorate in strengthening the democratic fabric of the nation.
The workshop concluded with a call to action for all attendees to become ambassadors of voter awareness, encouraging their peers, families, and communities to vote responsibly and contribute to the democratic process. The headmaster of the School, Himmat Singh Dhillon, felicitated the speakers and proposed a vote of thanks.
