Shimla: APG Shimla University marked International Yoga Day with a vibrant yoga awareness camp on its campus. The event brought together students, faculty, and guests in a collective celebration of health and wellness through yoga.

Additional District Magistrate of Shimla, Jyoti Rana, joined as the chief guest. Renowned Art of Living teacher and Yogacharya Aditya Sood led the session as the instructor. University officials, including Chancellor Engineer Suman Vikrant, Pro-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ramesh Chauhan, and Registrar Prof. Dr. R.L. Sharma, welcomed the guests warmly.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Chauhan emphasized that Yoga Day is now a global celebration, not just limited to India. He said yoga has deep roots in Indian tradition, dating back to the Vedic age. It was used by saints to promote a balanced and joyful life. Today, people across the world are embracing yoga for its health and wellness benefits.
Around 250 participants joined the yoga camp with great zeal. While guiding the session, Yogacharya Aditya Sood encouraged everyone to stay healthy and active through yoga. He stressed the importance of avoiding harmful habits and working towards building a strong and united society.
Chief Guest Jyoti Rana highlighted yoga’s power to heal both the body and mind. She said it is not just a tool for fitness, but also a source of peace and energy. Through International Yoga Day, she added, we aim to inspire people to adopt yoga for a stronger, healthier life.
The university leadership, including Chancellor Suman Vikrant, Pro-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ramesh Chauhan, Registrar Prof. Dr. R.L. Sharma, Head of Department Prof. Dr. Ashwani Sharma, Dean of Student Welfare Dr. Neelam Sharma, Media Incharge Dr. Vijayshree, also joined the participants in performing yoga. Their presence added inspiration and energy to the event. With such active participation and shared spirit, the celebration echoed the growing global recognition of yoga as a way of life.
