Guwahati: As part of the countdown to International Day of Yoga 2022, a Yoga Utsav (festival) was recently organized at the picturesque Ziro valley of Arunachal Pradesh, where the Union Ayush minister Sarbananda Sonowal was present along with Arunachal State ministers Taba Tedir and Tage Teki with a number of Yoga enthusiasts.
Speaking on the occasion, Sonowal stated that Yoga uplifts the mind and body. It re-energises the spirit yet keeps everyone calm & composed. “Bhagvad Gita has captured the essence of Yoga beautifully which is a journey of the self, through the self, to the self. I am blessed to practise at the beautiful Ziro valley,” added Sonowal, also in charge of ports, shipping and waterways portfolios.
The Union minister later interacted with the participants including the students of VKV, Ziro Valley School, St Claret College, etc at the openair Yoga on the bank of Sikhe lake. On the occasion of International Yoga Day on 21 June, Yoga will be organized in 75 iconic places across India to commemorate 75 years of India’s independence. Moreover Yoga programs will be held in six time zones across the world including Fiji which witnesses the first sunrise.
