Youth Volunteers Distribute Warm Clothes to Solan Families Amid Cold Snap

Solan: Volunteers from the National Youth Project (NYP) of Himachal Pradesh have distributed warm clothing to families living in slum areas along the Solan bypass, offering relief from a sudden drop in temperature. The effort is part of the nationwide “Seva Week,” which began on October 2.

Yashpal Kapoor, the NYP Himachal coordinator, said that several families from Rajasthan are living in makeshift huts in the area. They make a living by crafting and selling brooms for Diwali. “Continuous rainfall over the past three days has caused temperatures to fall sharply, and rainwater has seeped into their huts,” Kapoor explained. “These families, especially the women and small children, were struggling without adequate warm clothing.”

The distribution drive, conducted under the National Yuva Seva Fellowship, provided essential items like warm jackets and lowers.

The Sarathi Welfare Society of Solan also joined the initiative, with its President Subhash Saklani and Senior Vice President Dr. G.R. Sahibi actively participating. Following the event, the volunteers encouraged local residents and other community organizations to come forward and support the humanitarian cause.
