YSS Spiritual Retreat at Shoolini University Inspires Youth

Solan: “Spirituality and yoga bring inner stability and awaken divine energy, which are essential for building a healthier and more harmonious society,” stated Swami Nischalananda of Yogoda Satsanga Society of India (YSS). He was addressing the media on the second day of the ongoing three-day YSS Spiritual Retreat at Shoolini University. Swami Nischalananda highlighted that Yogoda Satsanga Society of India was founded in 1917 by Paramahansa Yogananda to spread the teachings of yoga and spirituality globally, ensuring that future generations also benefit from this profound knowledge.

Swami Shradhananda, Swami Chaitanyananda and Swami Nischalananda graced the three-day event and led the spiritual sessions with their profound guidance. The retreat at Shoolini University witnessed overwhelming participation, with a remarkable response from the youth. Speaking on the occasion, Swami Nischalananda shared, “Today’s youth are showing a growing interest in spiritual retreats, which is truly encouraging. Here at Solan, over 350 participants joined the retreat, with nearly 30% being young individuals.”

He further emphasised that such retreats are proving to be powerful in calming the restless modern mind. “Through yoga, one can experience true joy, unconditional love, and inner peace,” he added. Prof. P.K. Khosla, Chancellor Shoolini University and a long-time devotee of Yogoda Satsanga Society of India (YSS), expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the opportunity to host the spiritual retreat on the university campus.

Prof. Khosla said that it was a matter of immense pride and spiritual fulfillment for me, both as the Chancellor of Shoolini University and as a lifelong devotee of Paramahansa Yogananda Ji, to welcome the YSS family to our campus. The teachings of YSS have personally guided me towards inner peace and stability, and I believe such retreats bring much-needed positivity, clarity, and higher consciousness to our youth and society at large.

Prof Khosla,  further added that Shoolini University remains committed to nurturing not only academic excellence but also holistic development, which includes creating an environment for spiritual growth and self-realisation. The final day of the spiritual retreat concluded with the Kriya Yoga Diksha Ceremony, a sacred initiation into the advanced meditation technique taught by YSS. For those who have not yet received Kriya initiation, an insightful video session was organised, introducing the philosophy and benefits of Kriya Yoga.

The retreat concluded with a soulful Closing Programme, filled with prayers, spiritual messages, and heartfelt gratitude expressed by the participants. The event ended with the distribution of Prasad, symbolising divine blessings and togetherness.
