Nauni VC exposes dark side of parental expectations, urges focus on moral values

Solan: Prof. Rajeshwar Singh Chandel, Vice Chancellor Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar Forestry and Horticulture University Nauni, emphasized the importance of instilling good moral values in children rather than imposing unrealistic expectations on them. Speaking as the chief guest at a program organized on the 15th foundation day of Hamara Solan 90.4 FM, Prof. Chandel expressed concern that parents often burden their children with their own aspirations, hindering the child’s natural talents.

He criticized the trend of parents imposing expectations on children from an early age, leading to the suppression of their inherent abilities. Prof. Chandel suggested that, instead of pressuring children to fulfill parental dreams, it might be more beneficial for parents to focus on imparting moral values.

The Vice Chancellor’s remarks underscored the need for a balanced approach to parenting, encouraging the development of a child’s natural talents while instilling essential moral values, rather than imposing unrealistic expectations that may hinder their growth in the long run.
