Solan: The serene campus of Shoolini University in Solan is set to become a hub of spiritual activity this weekend as the Yogoda Satsanga Society of India or YSS organizes a three-day spiritual retreat there from Friday, July 26 to Sunday, July 28. The programme will be conducted by Swami Krishnananda Giri and Swami Alokananda Giri with the assistance of Br. Haripriyananda.
The event promises a deep dive into the soul-liberating teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda, attracting around 350 devotees from all over India. The upcoming event at Shoolini University will feature spiritual discourses by YSS monks, reviews of YSS yoga techniques, group meditations, chanting sessions and a Kriya Yoga initiation.
A key highlight of the programme will be the Kriya Yoga initiation, a sacred and transformative practice that has been passed down through the lineage of YSS. This initiation offers participants a profound method of meditation that can lead to deeper spiritual experiences and personal transformation.
YSS was founded by Sri Sri Paramahansa Yogananda in 1917. He is regarded as ‘the Father of Yoga in the west’ as he introduced the sacred Kriya Yoga, a form of Raja Yoga there. He is the author of the world-famous spiritual classic ‘Autobiography of a Yogi’. This book, first published in 1946, has sold millions of copies and has been translated and published in more than 50 languages around the world and 15 languages in India. The Worldwide organisation, ‘Self-Realization Fellowship’ or SRF, founded by him has more than 800 centres, temples and retreats around the globe. YSS has its Kendras all over India.
