Solan: More than 150 student riders, amateurs, and professional cyclists are gathering in the Kasauli Hills for the 7th Edition of the Tour de Sanawar MTB XCO, kicking off Sunday, November 1, 2026, at The Lawrence School, Sanawar.
Organized jointly by the historic school, The Old Sanawarian Society, and HASTPA, the event has grown into one of India’s premier school-based mountain biking competitions since launching in 2018. Backed by title partner Hero Cycles alongside Hartex and Radkaat, this year’s championship also serves as the flagship showcase for the Sanawar Global Cycling League, an initiative working to introduce competitive cycling to 100 schools across the country.

Competitors from institutions such as The Lawrence School in Ooty, Bhavan Vidyalaya in Chandigarh, and Auckland House School in Shimla will tackle a rigorous Cross-Country Olympic (XCO) circuit on the Sanawar campus. The 3 to 6-kilometer technical loop features steep climbs, sharp switchbacks, and an elevation gain of up to 200 meters per lap designed to test both endurance and bike handling.
Races span five categories across three main divisions, covering school juniors, seniors, and open professional brackets. Organizers have set aside a 3-lakh rupee prize pool featuring cash awards, bicycles, and gear, alongside special recognition for the most promising young riders.
Beyond the competition, organizers emphasize that the event aims to encourage youth fitness, outdoor adventure, and a broader culture of cycling across Indian schools.
